Hello! Today's post may not be beauty or fashion related but I think it's one that a lot of my readers will be able to relate to. Recently, I heard the very talented Hailee Steinfeld's song Love Myself on the radio and ever since it's been on constant replay. The song is all about loving yourself and I admire the message it gives. It got me thinking and I decided I wanted to write a post on the message of the song, self love.
I'm sure most of you at some stage have heard someone talking about another person and saying 'they love themselves', right? And usually, saying that someone loves themselves isn't a positive thing. This is something I don't agree with. The picture above is of a Tumblr post that has been doing the rounds on the Internet and rightly so, I think it's brilliant.
It's a sad fact of life that people, most of whom are young girls, don't know how to love themselves, and this is due to a number of contributing factors: the media's portrayal of 'perfect', the opinions of people in their daily lives and even their own opinions of themselves. When I read this post I could relate to it one hundred percent. It's only now, as I reach twenty years of age, that I've learnt to love who I am and what I bring to the table.
Does that make me conceited or arrogant? I don't think so. Self-confidence is something that has taken many of us years to accomplish, and I don't think that anyone should have the right to criticise someone for loving who they are.

Self love is about knowing who you truly are, not who others think you are, and being happy and confident in that person. An important thing to keep in mind is that no one is perfect, we should all accept and embrace our imperfections. Only when you can do this and see your strengths, will you learn to love yourself.
