Monday the 4th of May saw the Met Gala 2015 take place and this year the theme was 'China: Through The Looking Glass'. While the Met Gala is an annual fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City, it's a chance for all of our favourite celebrities to wear some breathtaking and down right outrageous outfits in some cases! In this post I've picked out a few of my best dressed choices and some of the more bizarre outfit choices, to have a closer look at the outfits just click on the images to enlarge them. Enjoy!
Emma Roberts wore Ralph Lauren and I think that the colour of this dress with her skin tone is absolutely stunning! Georgia May Jagger showcased an amazing Chinese inspired Gucci gown which was very suitable for the theme. Gigi Hadid (one of my ultimate girl crushes) wore a siren red Diane von Furstenberg creation, a colour that was very popular this year.
One of my top picks from the evening was Jennifer Lopez in a breathtaking Atelier Versace gown which featured a dragon sequin design and an ombre mermaid silhouette. Rosie Huntington-Whitely also wore an Atelier Versace dress and I think her deep berry coloured lip sets off this dress perfectly, simply gorgeous! Poppy Delevingne (Cara's older sister) wore a gown by Marchesa covered in poppies, very fitting if you ask me although this is definitely a love it or hate it fashion choice.
Lily Collins has been a style icon of mine for a while now and her Chanel outfit was a breath of fresh air in amongst all the heavy jewelled gowns that flooded the red carpet. Kendall Jenner wore a green jewelled Calvin Klein dress, as she has recently been announced as the new face of the fashion house. Kerri Russell wore a stunning feathered dress by Altuzarra, very different and eye catching which I love.
It's time for the more bizarre and 'out there' outfits. Lady Gaga wore Alexander Wang for Balenciaga and while this dress is quite different, it's not dissimilar to what Chinese Empresses would have worn in their time. Kim Kardashian has never been one for covering up and the Met Gala was no exception, wearing a sheer Roberto Cavalli creation. Last but by no means least is Rihanna, whose outfit choice this year caused quite a stir. It was hand made by Beijing-based designer Guo Pei and took two years to create, so while it may not be to everyones tastes, it certainly is phenomenal.
Who was your best dressed and worst dressed from this years Met Gala?
